Finding your Minecraft folder
Q: Where is my Library folder?
Lots of people have been asking how to find the Library folder.
Here is the quickest answer I know. I made a video to show you how.
Fixing Minecraft when it breaks!
Don’t panic. If you get a black screen just run Minecraft and go to Options on the Login screen. Hit force update then login. This will download the latest versions of the game files and undo any damage you may have done.

Running a Minecraft Server on your Mac
- Download the minecraft_server.jar - from http://minecraft.net/download.jsp
- Move to a new folder on your desktop called ‘server’
- Don’t just doubleclick the minecraft_server.jar
- Use Terminal (available via Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
- Type ‘CD’
- Type the path to your server folder (~/Desktop/server)
- Paste the command from the download page
java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui
- Hit return and it’s running!
A really simple tip… Always place torches on your left when exploring. If you need to find your way home just follow the trail of torches behind you on your right. This makes it REALLY easy to not get lost especially when starting out and finding lots of tunnels… making a decision about which way to turn is now quick and simple. —— And… I got the URL wrong for The Shaft podcast —- it is actually http://theshaftpodcast.blogspot.com/ — it’s great… you should have a listen.NEVER get lost [Simple Torch Trick]
