I really can’t wait for the new version of Minecraft. I’ve been running a version behind (0.9652) for a while now (it’s hard work keeping 16 laptops up to date) and it’ll be great to get them and the server (which is a Mac (for extra complications!) up to date.
See the Minecraftedu blog for more information on the next release, which looks great… lot of new features for finer-grained control over the environment (and the kids!).
In Joel’s words:
We’ve been quite busy preparing the first public release of MinecraftEdu. You can see screenshots of the latest build below. This version will first be sent to our pilot schools in the next week, or so. And then after some testing, we will make MinecraftEdu available to the general public!
Anonymous asked: On my mac when i go to library, the minecraft folder isnt there! does anyone know where to find it or how to covert minecraft into a folder?

Finding your Minecraft folder

Lots of people have been asking how to find the Library folder.
Here is the quickest answer I know. I made a video to show you how.
Anonymous asked: I cant find "application support" on my mac. i there any other way?
No. This is the way to do it. You do have that Application Support folder, Minecraft won’t work without it.
Here is a quick way…
- Open Finder
- Click on the ‘Go’ menu
- Choose ‘Go To Folder… ‘
- Type ‘~/Library’ & click ‘Go’
- Then just double-click into ‘Application Support’
- And then ‘minecraft’
Here are some pics, and the instructions again in case you missed it…
- Open Finder
- Click on the ‘Go’ menu
- Choose ‘Go To Folder… ‘
- Type ‘~/Library’ & click ‘Go’
- Then just double-click into ‘Application Support’
- And then ‘minecraft’
Anonymous asked: I was doing a texture pack, but i ran into a problem, When I put /Minecraft/ in, there was no folder with that name, Help?
Try
/Users/
Lowercase ‘m’ for Minecraft. If not just go to /Users/
Anonymous asked: every time i try to follow your video on how to install servers for mine craft i get to the portion where you put cd into terminal and then drag the server file into it and then i keep getting not a directory when i hit return, what does that mean and what can i do to change that?
Ah. The ‘cd’ command is to change directory (‘c’hange ‘d’irectory).
The command ‘cd’ needs to be followed by a directory name, not a file.
So… instead of dragging the server file, drag the directory it is in.
Anonymous asked: where can i find the folder to add texture packs for minecraft?
/Users/
Anonymous asked: I watched your youtube video and did it, but it came up grey and didn't work? I'v zipped the files and not the folder so what do i do?
Download texture pack
Watch the Mac auto unzip it
Go to trash to find the zip you downloaded (when it auto-unzips in step 2 above it puts the zip into trash
Move zip from Trash to your Texture folder (/Users//Library/Application Support/minecraft/texturepacks/)

Same as Windoze. This is a universal game and all the methods are the same no matter what machine you play it on.

Anonymous asked: my textures arent working. im wondering if its because my files are automatically un-zipped when i downoad them?
Yes. Go to trash to get the original zip that was automatically unzipped.
Anonymous asked: what do I do if there's no minecraft in my application support?
You need to look in
/Users/
Don’t look in
/Library/Application Support/
it won’t be there.
